The Archie comics, which first appeared as a stand-alone in the winter of 1942, sparked a popularity that's lasted decades – and many a spinoff. Netflix's Riverdale is perhaps the most relevant in recent years, spanning seven seasons, a couple of supernatural turns, and many memes. The final episodes are set to air this August, but the era of Archie and the gang isn't over yet.

Now, India is delivering its own rendition of the beloved comics with Zoya Akhtar's upcoming Netflix live action film, The Archies. At Netflix's live global fan event in Brazil(opens in a new tab), a first extensive look at the highly anticipated remake was shown. And it didn't disappoint.

Set in 1960s India in an idyllic hill station (naturally called Riverdale), the look teases young love, rock and roll, and a fair bit of intrigue. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Suhana Khan, Yuvraj Menda, Agastya Nanda, Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Khushi Kapoor, and Vedang Raina, many of whom are making their feature film debuts.

The Archies is coming soon to Netflix.(opens in a new tab)
