LOS ANGELES -- Colleen Ballinger, better known as YouTube persona Miranda Sings, is calling it quits with husband Josh Evans.
But unlike the fiercely private Brangelina or long-timers Naomi Watts and Liev Scheiber, the digital influencer shared the news Friday with fans in a raw, emotional video on her personal channel (PsychoSoprano(opens in a new tab)) after a year of marriage.
In it, a teary-eyed Ballinger explains that there were a lot of "hard parts of the relationship" that she and Evans chose not to share with fans.
"I want to start off by saying Joshua is a wonderful man and I am so in love with him, this has nothing to do with 'he's a bad person' or 'he did something horrible to me' or anything like that," she says. "He's a good person and I love him ... we've always had a very rocky relationship since the beginning. We've always butted heads. We've always fought, ever since we met really. It's never been a perfect relationship."
The duo tied the knot a little over a year ago, in a ceremony attended by some YouTubers such as GloZell Green.
The couple frequently documented their relationship on the web, including pictures of their wedding.
"We have shown you everything because we wanted to, and I don't regret any of that. But we chose not to share with you the hard parts of the relationship and there were a lot of hard parts," Ballinger tells fans. "For a long time now I've realized just how unhappy we both were. I want Joshua to be happy and I can't make him happy."
"This is the most difficult decision I have ever had to make in my entire life," Ballinger wrote in the video's description. "I ask that you all be respectful during this painful time. Thank you."
She also asked fans to not send hate toward Evans because "he's hurting and this is really really painful."
Evans also posted a video on Friday, titled "Heartbroken."
In it, he confirms the break-up. However, he said: "I want it to be known I am not choosing this divorce. I don't want this divorce, I want her. But I truly believe that she thinks she is making the right decision right now...and I can't make her decisions for her, I can only decide stuff on my own. My decision is to not end anything but you know, it's her choice and I respect her life as well."
He said the break-up is not related to cheating. His plan is to "step away" from YouTube, Twitter and Instagram to "heal in private."
Ballinger's show for Netflix, Haters Back Off, is scheduled to debut on Netflix on Oct. 14.
