Poor Things' trailer may be short, but it's already 30 seconds of incredible cinema nonetheless.

Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster, The Favourite) and produced by Emma Stone, Poor Things follows Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman who's brought back to life — à la Frankenstein's monster — by an out-of-the-ordinary scientist called Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Eager to reclaim her newfound life and make the most out of this strange second chance, Bella runs away to see the world with a weird — but cute — lawyer by her side, Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo).

Poor Things' trailer plops you right in the middle of incredibly surreal cinematography, with its visuals feeling like we're walking in a painting. If its enigmatic world still hasn't sold you yet, Emma Stone also slaps Mark Ruffalo at its end — watch for the greatest delivery of an "Ow" yet.

The film's cast also includes Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael, and Christopher Abbott.

Poor Things releases in theaters on September 8.
